My name is Samantha Chery, and I am a culture and entertainment reporter with newsletter writing and social media editing experience. I’m open for freelance and contract assignments anywhere in the U.S. while I search for my next full-time opportunity.
For the past four years, I wrote for The Washington Post’s Style section. I was most recently a features breaking news reporter, primarily covering arts & entertainment, internet culture, food, fashion and more. Before that, I was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award while reporting features on gender & identity.

In addition to my written work, I’ve produced and edited food TikToks, and I’ve appeared in social videos and broadcast interviews for The Post.
I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida with minors in sociology and event management. My academic specializations were in magazine writing and data journalism.
I’ve anchored and operated cameras, lower-thirds and audio for broadcast news.
